Anshin Tenjo Schröder (1957) was born in Rotterdam and grew up in Naarden (NH). She did her education at the Academie voor Expressie en Communicatie in Leeuwarden. After that she worked as a social worker in a womens' refuge in the same town.

In 1996 Tenjo had her first contact with zen at the Noorder Poort. A year later she decided to live there. From 1999 till 2004 she was in training with Jiun Hogen as an unsui (zen-boeddhist nun).

In 2005 she started as leader with the Dharmahouse Leeuwarden. The Dharmahouse organizes weekly zencourses in Leeuwarden and in Moddergat. There are also regulary zen- and introductiondays. In 2010 she has been appointed Dharma Teacher.

Since 2007 she lives together with her partner Harm Jan Wilbrink in Moddergat. This is a small fishervillage in the northeast of Friesland near the Wadden Sea. They live there now with their dog, parrots, honeybees and a draft horse. Tenjo became a mudwalking guide and together with Harm Jan, who also is a mudwalking guide, they grounded Foundation Oan 'e dyk. With this foundation they organise among other things mudwalking tours, a weekly silent moment in the church and tours with their horse and wagon through the village.
